President’s Letter, December 2024

Written by: Ian Kaner, President

Dear Congregants,

As you have just read, our esteemed Rabba Kaya, who has guided us with wisdom and compassion, will be stepping down due to personal health reasons. We hold her in our hearts and are deeply grateful for her years of service and leadership.

In light of this transition, and as your new President, I and the board are committed to ensuring our congregation remains spiritually supported and united. The Board of Directors has begun developing a comprehensive plan to identify and welcome a new Rabbi who will lead us in faith and community.

Our approach includes the following steps:

  1. Transition Team Formation: A dedicated team of congregants will work closely with leadership to guide this process.
  2. Community Input: We will seek your feedback and consider the larger Jewish community to ensure that hte qualities and priorities we value as a congregation are central to the selection process.
  3. Interim Leadership: We are arranging for interim spiritual leadership to maintain continuity after June 30th, and will ensure those with S’michot in the summer will still have her to conduct.

We will keep you updated throughout this process and invite your participating as we move forward together. Please contact me if you’d like to participate in one of our search committees.

Please join us in offering our heartfelt thanks to Rabba Kaya and her family for her dedication to our community. Let us continue to honor her legacy by supporting one another during this transition.

If you have any questions or wish to share your thoughts, please do not hesitate to reach out.

L’Shalom,

Ian Kaner, President
