Join us for a Scholar-in-Residence Shabbaton. We will explore views of the afterlife in Judaism through text study of Torah, Talmud, Midrash, Zohar and otherworldy tales from Hasidism and Yiddish folk literature. We shall also reflect on how ideas about life after death impact our contemporary attitudes toward death and loss. Register online

Scholar-In-Residence
Reb Simcha Raphael, Ph.D. is founding director of the DA’AT Institute for Death Awareness, Advocacy and Training. He works as a psychotherapist and spiritual director in Philadelphia, and is on the faculty of the One Spirit Learning alliance Art of Dying Institute. Ordained as a rabbinic pastor, he is author of the groundbreaking Jewish Views of the Afterlife, and co-editor of Jewish End-of-Life CAre in a Virtual Age – Our Traditions Reimagined.
