Growing up Jewish in New Hampshire is very different than growing up Jewish in Brooklyn, Brookline, or Tel Aviv. By choosing to send your child to our Religious School, you are giving them the opportunity to meet and learn with other Jewish children within a positive Jewish context—to be part of a special community. Our school focuses on teaching and advocating Jewish identity, values, and observance and providing Hebrew language skills so they will be comfortable participating in Jewish worship and rituals anywhere they go. Ultimately, our objective is to pass on our Jewish culture — our distinct view of the world, our obligation to improve it, and our relationship to people and G-d — to the next generation.

Religious School meets on Wednesday afternoons (3:45-5:30) and Sunday mornings (9:00-12) from September to May. Children in grades K-2 attend only the Sunday sessions; students in grades 3-7 attend Sunday and Wednesday. We encourage families to attend Shabbat and holiday services with their children from time to time, including several special services that feature their child’s class as leaders and role models.
Each class of 10-15 students studies and learns in a modern, well-equipped classroom with their teacher. Class time is split between learning Hebrew language skills, Judaic studies, Jewish ethics and history. Arts and crafts, music, cooking, dance, and drama are also part of the school experience.
We offer a mix of large group instruction and individualized lessons at every level of learning. The curriculum is progressive and inclusive, building competence for each individual student so that by the time they are ready to become Bar or Bat Mitzvah, they are confident enough to lead a prayer service, including chanting from the Torah and haftarah.
Students take a snack break during each session, and each day also includes a brief all-school prayer service, with music, led in part by students.
Yes. Our school is very much a part of our congregation. Students help lead Shabbat services, and they participate in community cultural events and holiday celebrations. Did you know that our congregation subsidizes the cost of the Religious School, keeping it more affordable for all? We, as a beit midrash, are committed to educating our Jewish youth.
