Welcome to Temple Israel of Portsmouth, an engaging, diverse Jewish community.
Temple Israel is a Jewish home for people interested in Jewish life, culture and tradition, regardless of their level of observance or knowledge of Judaism.
We are an extended family — 300 member-households strong, coming from more than 40 Seacoast and surrounding towns — dedicated to preserving and continuing more than 200 years of Jewish heritage, values and traditions in Portsmouth.
Coming from all walks of life, family structures and religious backgrounds, our members reflect the diversity of the Seacoast’s Jewish community. Interfaith families and people who have chosen to become Jewish are an integral part of our synagogue family. We welcome the non-Jewish partners and families of members and encourage their participation in our community. People of all sexual orientations and gender identities will find a welcoming home at Temple Israel.
Our diverse, egalitarian, Conservative congregation is active religiously, socially, culturally, educationally and philanthropically. Join us!
We hope you will choose to become part of the present and future of our congregation.
