Jewish tradition gives us this month as a period of preparation for entering into the High Holidays with awareness and motivation. To engage all of our senses in this process of restoration, TIP is offering a series of events throughout the month of Elul to nourish body, mind, heart, and spirit.
Thank you for your interest in our upcoming Elul events.
Thursdays, 6:45 – 8:00 pm: 8/29, 9/12, 9/19, via Zoom.
Allison Miller leads the discussion of Rabbi Alan Lew’s classic book, This Is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared.
Through Torah texts, Jewish fables, stories from his own life, and Buddhist parables, Rabbi Lew helps us understand the purpose in this annual passage that has the potential to leave us deeply enriched and even transformed.
We will practice short, guided meditations to help us integrate what we are discovering in the text. Together, we can deepen our experience of the upcoming holidays so that something new is awakened, bringing us into deeper connection with ourselves and one another.
Thursday, September 5, 7:00 pm via Zoom
Four rabbis discuss the themes of Rabbi Shai Held’s new book within the context of the month of Elul.
Named by Newsweek as one of the 50 most influential rabbis in America, Rabbi Shai Held is a philosopher, theologian, author, and scholar. He serves as President and Dean at the Hadar Institute.
