Erev Rosh Hashanah

Erev Rosh Hashanah, Wednesday, October 2, 7:00-8:30pm

Join us to welcome the New Year in prayer and song, led by Rabba Kaya Stern-Kaufman and Cantor Julie Newman. Attend in person in the historic Sanctuary or over Zoom.

Rosh Hashanah Day 1

Thursday, October 3rd

Sanctuary Service and Zoom 9:00 am – 12:15 pm

Services will be led by Rabba Kaya Stern-Kaufman and Cantor Julie Newman.

Torah Service: 10:25
Sermon: 11:10
End: 12:15 pm

Resources for Rosh Hashanah

Babysitting, Youth & Teen Services

10:15-11:30am Youth Service (Social Hall) geared towards children in grades 1-5, led by Ilene Kanoff. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children if bringing a child in first grade or younger.

Babysitting will be available in the preschool classroom for children aged 2-5 and supervised quiet activities are available in a second classroom for children ages 6-10 (pre-registration required).

11am Preschool Story time (preschool classroom) for children ages 2-5, led by Dinah Berch. All children in the younger babysitting will be included. Parents are welcome to join. A small snack will be provided.

Reb Beni Summers (our rabbinic intern) will lead a musical morning program for teens on Rosh Hashanah day 1, 9:30-10:30 am. After a break to participate in the Rosh Hashanah shofar service, Reb Beni will lead a mini-musaf experience from 12–12:30 pm for teens.

Rosh Hashanah Day 2

Friday, October 4th
Sanctuary Service and Zoom 9:00 am – 12:15 pm

Shofar: 11:25 am
End: 12:15 pm

Family Programming
A brief youth program will be held from approximately 10:45am to 11:25am; children will return to the sanctuary in time for the shofar service. This youth activity will be “Movement and Music on the themes of Rosh Hashanah”. Kids are invited to enjoy some fun yoga and shofar blowing, led by Ilene Kanoff. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children if bringing a child in first grade or younger.

Babysitting will be available in the preschool classroom for children ages 2-5 from 8:45am to end of service; supervised quiet activities will be available in a second classroom for children ages 6-10 (pre-registration required).

Rosh Hashanah for Families

Registration for baby sitting, story time, youth service and the teen program is included in the main High Holiday registration form. Questions can be sent to Dinah Berch, webmaster@templeisraelnh.org. Changing tables are available in both the womens’ and mens’ bathrooms. Busy bags and High Holiday-related children’s books are available in the main sanctuary and the library. Ask an usher to point them out!
